Testimonials

I loved training with Jacques as part of my fitness journey. He has a very welcoming and warm personality and really listened to my goals in working with him.  I never grew up being physically active and so it was with Jacques that I learned to master many of the basic movement patterns necessary to get stronger and fitter in a healthful and safe way. He is an excellent and attentive teacher and coach, and when I had to move out of New York for a while he helped set me up with an equally wonderful trainer and worked together with him so that my programming would be seamless.

I’ve been training with Jacques for couple of years now and the results have been incredible. Jacques was able to identify and address the muscles imbalances that were causing reoccurring lower back and knee pain. Training with Jacques is fun and he’s very committed to his clients and the individualized programs he creates for each of them.

Jacques is a really great trainer who works to understand your fitness needs and develops a program that will support your goals.   When I met him he was recovering from an injury and was very sensitive to my constraints due my own back issues.  He was empathetic and supportive while still motivating me to push forward. His overall positive attitude makes him a pleasure to work with.

Three years ago, as a woman in my fifties, I had recuperated from torn ligaments in my ankle, as well as severe lower back pain.   I was ready to begin working out to gaining strength, build bone mass and muscle, have more energy and lose a few pounds. To avoid reinjuring myself, I hunted for a trainer experienced with training people of all ages who were coming back from an injury.

All arrows pointed to Jacques.

Jacques has a thorough understanding of the body and having undergone knee surgery and extensive physical therapy himself he’s particularly attuned to that experience and empathetic with other PT patients.

He is highly experienced as a personal trainer, having attained a position at the highest level at the most elite gym in NYC.

At our first meeting, he evaluated me thoroughly. We discussed my history, my health, and my goals. He took measurements and watched me perform exercises to better tailor a plan specific to my needs.

Working with Jacques for the past three years has added to my well-being immensely. With his guidance I’ve accomplished things I never thought I could – including competing in a strength and weight-lifting competition for women over 40, where I surpassed every expectation I had for myself.  I like the way Jacques sets reasonable challenges and helps me meet them at each session. He introduces new exercises by doing them himself, which I find helpful.  He knows how to motivate me to reach my goals without ever forcing me past my comfort level.

Through my twice-weekly workouts, using a variety of tools and exercises, I’ve become much stronger, improved my balance and gained energy.  If I regress between sessions, e.g. from picking something up the wrong way, Jacques patiently guides me through stretches which help rid me of pain and then we work on building me back up.
Jacques’ commitment to helping clients become as fit and healthy as possible includes guidance on diet.  Also, unlike many trainers, who are often distracted by other people or their cell phones, Jacques focuses on his clients every second he is with them.
Beyond his technical skills, Jacques is engaging and fun, a real pleasure all around.  I look forward to many more training sessions with him.  This has been the best investment of my money and time!  I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Being a movement educator with 20 years of experience and a few complicated knee and hip issues, I went into my search for a trainer with quite a few expectations. Jacques exceeded them all. He is not only a lovely and truly good person making each session a genuine joy, he is professional, passionate and extremely driven. He was always able to cater each session to exactly what my body needed each day so the sessions never felt generic or cookie cutter. From start to finish my experience working with him was phenomenal.

Training with Jacques was a pleasure and an inspiration. Jacques is super knowledgeable and experienced. He is super helpful as a trainer. He knew how to train around my back injury so that I wouldn’t get re-injured. And the results of the work outs were great. Not only did I loose weight and gain core strength. I also got in the best shape I’ve ever been. And long-term training with Jacques was hard work but also fun. I would recommend Jacques as a trainer to anyone.

One of the benefits of working with Jacques is that his work outs are always original and tailored to how you are feeling that day and even that minute.  He is sensitive to injuries and can develop a demanding work out even when you have limitations.  There is always something else you can do which keeps you motivated.  We worked a lot of my building up my back muscles and  my posture has never been better,  Thank you Jacques!

As a former dancer I was always conscious of staying as fit as possible.  I started using a personal trainer as I got into my 40’s and realized that kind of commitment was great for getting me to the gym. I’ve now been using the services of personal trainer for the last 28 years.  Over the last 15 years I’ve had to under go a few surgeries for injuries i incurred.  Jacques is an amazing trainer.  He knew my limitations because of those injuries but was always aware as to how much he could push my limitations.  He’s funny and inspiring and makes the training session a pure joy.  He’s focused and during my session he was never once distracted from our training.  Anyone working with Jacques is lucky to have him.

I started training with Jacques almost 2 years ago.  After years of classes, I felt I needed more personal attention. First, to make sure I was doing exercises right. Second, to address shoulder and hip pain and lastly to help with my golf swing. He has been amazing in all 3 of those goals. Even when training virtually- he is able to correct form and hold me accountable. On the days I’m in pain, he immediately adjusts our workout to focus on some exercises and stretches to help heal and not further injure myself. Lastly, I am turning better and hitting the golf ball further. Most importantly, Jacques is friendly and engaging while pushing you to your max and beyond.

I have been thrilled with my work outs and most recently to train virtually.

When I first started training with Jacques, I had not worked with a trainer in years. Working out for me had simply meant hopping on a cardio machine at the gym for an hour. Through working with Jacques, that all changed. He was able to coach me – but he also taught me how to be comfortable at the gym and how to properly use, set up, and dismantle all of the equipment on my own.

What I appreciate most about Jacques is how knowledgeable and organized he is. He meticulously and methodically plans each workout program weeks in advance and incorporates the perfect combination of exercises —  those that I am already fond of and familiar with and those that are challenging but push me closer to my fitness goals. He is extremely conscientious about not aggravating any minor injuries, aches, or pains that I might have, and thinks long-term about avoiding exercises that might cause damage down the line. He knows when to be flexible and make adjustments and when you need an extra push. Through his positive attitude, patience, and diverse exercises, I was able to reach new fitness levels and change the way that I view working out.

I had a period in my life where I was stress eating and drinking which led to me gaining a few extra pounds so around the time I got my tax refund I decided I would use that money to get a trainer to do something about it. I had enough to get a 12-session pack and did some research and came across Jacques. I noticed he had been recovering from a knee surgery and as someone who has constant issues with my right knee, I thought it would be smart to go with someone with knee experience. He likes to use kettlebells and that is something I was interested in and it didn’t hurt that he is a fan of Andy Murray.  Jacques is very considerate and conscientious; his focus does not stray from you and your session. The work outs are creative, just when you get better at something, he switches things up, keeping the workouts new always catering to what you need improved whether you know it or not. The only time I don’t like an exercise is when I’m weak during it, but that repetition makes us stronger and lessens the knee pain. The 12-pack continued into a 24 and then a 36 pack. This was three years ago, and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. About 5 sessions in you will realize what a great guy he is, and it will be impossible not to become friends with him, making you want to work harder. I am looking to the next 48.
